Hello fellow Brats! [05 Feb 2011|12:17am]

So, since there's not much going on here, I figured I'd ask a question. Any other brats-turned-spouses here? I know, I told myself I'd never do such a thing.... c'est la vie!

Atten: Girl Gamers [12 Feb 2009|11:08pm]

America's Army is a FREE shooter game created by the US Army. You can download the game for free from here:

Women's Army Corps is a brand new clan (guild) formed by girls gamers for girl gamers, mostly because the boys just don't understand. I have been in several clans, most of them ALL Male and they just don't get it when a girl is an avid gamer or a military veteran or both. So this clan was made just for us girls.
The clan name pays tribute to the original Women's Army Corps who paved the way for today's female soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines. The clan welcomes female veterans from all military branches, but also girls who were in ROTC, Military Brats or just girl gamers who also support our military.

Important Info:
-Clan Name: Women's Army Corps
-Age Limit: 16+
-Website & Forums: Yes
-Vintrilo Server: Yes
-TWL & Clan Matches: Yes
-Friendly & Fun Community: Yes

Clan Web Site: http://wac.aowc.net/

Please take my survey (and spread the word!) [27 May 2008|05:53pm]

Sorry if this is a bit OT, but I want a wide group of people to fill out my survey and military brats cover the globe!

I’m curious about “recommendation engines”, the systems that enable Amazon and NetFlix to make recommendations like “People who bought _____ also bought ____”. I’m conducting experiments to build such a system. To do that, I need raw data. Would you help me by filling out my survey?

Click HERE to take the survey NOW (U.S. citizens only).

I’m doing this in my spare time as a hobby. I am a computer system administrator and author but this is a side-project. I’ll keep the data private and secure. I’m not collecting names or email addresses thus the data is useless to marketing companies and spammers. There is a link to a privacy policy on the survey.

All that I ask is that you answer the questions honestly.

For best results, I need to collect information from at least 10,000 people of a large variety of political, ethnic, and geographic backgrounds. Since most of my friends are in a similar political leaning, I really need help finding people outside my social circle to fill out the survey. If you could spread the word (blogs, etc.) between now and the end of June (I’m shutting off the survey on July 1, 2008).

Just wondering [24 Apr 2008|08:38pm]

[ mood | ditzy ]

Had someone else awhile back ask me where I'm from. I went into the usual list. She listened politely. "But which of all those places do you feel is home?" While all of the places I've lived have been home, I really only consider two of them home now. Honolulu and Athens, GA. Honolulu, because it captured my soul and Athens, because I've lived here the longest and I have family here. Although, I'd be out of here in half a heartbeat if I could afford it. *G*

What about you? Where is home? Is it a place or is it just wherever the family is at right now? Or do you have more than one?

THANK YOU to ALL the proud and brave members of our Armed Forces - and the families who support them - for your dedication to the preservation of freedom.

Happy Veteran's Day.

And personally, for my father who served two tours in Vietnam and 25 years in the Air Force ... you'll always be my hero and I love you.

Support Our Troops! [24 Aug 2006|09:00pm]

If you go to this website, http://www.letssaythanks.com/, you can
pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq. You can't pick out who gets it, but it will! go to some member of the armed services.

How AMAZING it would be if we could get everyone we know to send one!!!

This is a great site.

Please send a card.

It is FREE and it only takes a second.

Wouldnt it be wonderful if the soldiers received a bunch of these? Whether you are for or against the war, our guys and gals over there need to know we are behind them...

[17 Apr 2006|11:59pm]

Hello, my name is Megan Johnson and I'm so glad to have found this community. I've been doing google searches for other Navy brats, but wasn't finding anything helpful...was beginning to think that perhaps I needed to set up my own comm. in order to reconnect with old friends.

I'm 23yrs. old and the last place my family was stationed was Edzell, Scotland -that was about 13yrs. ago. We had the opportunity to leave early and did so.

If there is anyone in here who attended the school on the Edzell naval base back between 1990 and 1992, second grade through fourth -please speak up. In particular I'm looking for an old friend, Ashley Sizemore.

Brit Army Brat [16 Feb 2006|12:51am]

At present we are living on a huge army base in Bicester, Oxfordshire. Although I am away most of the time at university. I really miss Army life, and I miss my dad a lot, he won't get back til july (He's been away since November).

Newbie... [11 Feb 2006|02:24pm]

[ mood | awake ]

My name is Renie. I'm 19, and forever destined to be a military brat. My dad retired after 20 years of service to the U.S. Air Force, and I married a U.S. Army soldier. I love being a military brat, because it gives me a sense of being different from other people, because not everyone joins the military. My dad has been to Spain, Korea, England, Las Vegas, and Texas, among other places. He retired when I was 6, so I didn't really get to travel around. I lived on Eglin Air Force Base until I was 6 months old, and then in early 1987, we moved to Mossy Head, Florida (just a few miles shy of DeFuniak and Crestview). Dad retired, and we've been living in Jacksonville, Florida.
I married my soldier on January 27th, 2006. He's now stationed in Ft. Leonard Wood in Missouri for basic training. We'll be moving to Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas when he comes home sometime in late June, early July. He went in as a corrections officer for the Army.
Oh, and another thing I love about being a military brat - THE HEALTH INSURANCE!!! :-D
